Description

About the Studio

Short (about 40 words)

Spaceship Adventures is a solo indie studio, founded in 2010 by Jerome Heuze, building original space experiences in Blender and real-time engines: a physical two-crew cockpit simulator, a JAXA-inspired visual novel, and a free space studies course.

Long

Spaceship Adventures began in 2010 as a multiplayer spaceship simulation concept. Physical prototypes followed in 2013–2017 and proof-of-concept work in 2024. The project now runs as parallel strands that share assets and lore: The Lab (day-to-day Blender and real-time engines builds), the Physical ROC (a road-mobile two-crew cockpit simulator, in Phase 0), and Hoshi no Isan (a future Japanese space visual novel aboard a JAXA Heritage Ship). The site also hosts a free, self-paced Space Studies course. Work is built solo and shared in the Dev Journal and on YouTube.

Projects

What Is Being Built

In Development — Phase 0

Physical ROC

A road-mobile, two-crew cockpit simulator in a 16-ft enclosed trailer: real switches, real-time viewports that replace the windows when the mission starts, and an offline AI mission director called ARIA. Phase 0 is proving the software stack before any metal fabrication.

Active

The Lab

The day-to-day build pipeline: Blender hard-surface and kitbash work, real-time walkable ship interiors and space environments, documented on YouTube and in written logs. Assets built here feed the ROC viewports and may inform Hoshi no Isan.

Future

Hoshi no Isan (星の遺産)

Children of the JAXA Legacy: a first-person exploration game and visual novel aboard the Yamabiko, a JAXA Heritage Ship whose crew descend from the teams behind Hayabusa, Kaguya, SLIM and Akatsuki. Fully designed, in pre-production, queued after the ROC.

Live

Space Studies

A free, self-paced course on spaceflight, space law and policy, spaceflight history and planetary exploration: five courses and 35 modules plus a bonus, built from primary sources. No account, no accreditation.

Roadmap

Now · Next · Later

A solo project, so the roadmap is an order of work, not a release calendar. There are no committed release dates.

Now

  • Modular ship interior components: corridors, panels, hatches
  • ROC ship blockout in Blender (physical envelope, seats, glazing)
  • First-person walkable room blockouts in-engine
  • ROC Phase 0 software groundwork for ARIA and the consoles
  • YouTube build-diary and ambience uploads
  • Growing the Space Studies course

Next

  • real-time cosmic viewport scenes for the ROC cockpit windows
  • Prototype architecture for an exploration prototype
  • Kitbash library expansion and Lumen interior lighting passes
  • Shared mission bus for physical switches and browser consoles

Later

  • ROC hardware fabrication, after Phase 0 proves the software
  • Hoshi no Isan production: walkable Yamabiko, crew and relationship systems

Updates land in the Dev Journal first.
