Airlock hatch opens. Step inside a two-seat cockpit with angled MFDs, physical toggles, and surround audio. Analog meets digital — like a military aircraft at night, not clean sci-fi chrome.
Windows go dark. Unreal Engine 5 space fills the viewports. ARIA speaks. Pilot and Systems Officer run a mission together — shields, sensors, power trade-offs, and consequences that land physically.
Flight, navigation, evasion. Joystick and primary flight controls. Tactical displays for approach vectors and threat awareness. Responsible for getting the crew out alive.
Shields, sensors, weapons, life support, comms. Power routing and system trade-offs — divert to shields or keep weapons online. The seat where cooperation actually matters.
Physical switches, touch surfaces, and browser-based console apps share one mission bus. Mission design emphasizes systems that talk to each other, physical feedback (directional hits, LEDs, seat transducers), and STEM-tagged learning surfaced in post-mission debriefs.

The ship's AI — briefings, dynamic events, NPC voices, adaptive difficulty, and debriefs — running locally, not as a cloud-dependent chatbot.
A structured mission layer (events, timing, hardware cues) keeps sessions predictable and safe for operators. The LLM layer adds language where variation matters — alien hails, distress calls, adaptive tension. One minimum-wage employee runs setup and safety; ARIA runs the mission. No trained human flight director required for every session.
Phase 0 builds the software IP first: ARIA core, pilot and systems console web apps, WebSocket protocol to the mission engine, tutorial missions, a first UE5 cosmic environment, and an Arduino test bench for lights and solenoids — all runnable on a development workstation before a trailer build. Hardware becomes a home for software that already works.

ROC missions draw from the Hoshi no Isan universe — original IP documented since 2010, with no licensing dependencies. Every SSA session is a canonical fragment of that world. The future UE5 visual novel (Hoshi no Isan) shares the same lore DNA; the ROC is the physical, co-op expression of it.
